A new sub-variant XBB of corona virus has also been found in Nepal. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a new sub-variant XBB was found in a Nepalese person during the genomic sequencing conducted at the National Public Health Laboratory.

Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, Co-Spokesperson of the Ministry of Subavian XBB Identification of Omicron, said that during the selection of samples collected from people of different age groups of Covid-19 from 21 July to 14 October, genomic sequencing of some samples was done.

According to the World Health Organization, the variant has reached 26 countries in the world so far.

This variant, which is changing at a high rate from the origin of the Omicron variant of Sars Cov-2 virus, spread at a high rate at the beginning of last year. XBB is considered the worst virus ever due to various reasons.

According to the ministry, this variant is currently spreading in different parts of the country and the corona infection is increasing. The Ministry has requested to follow the health safety standards as the infection may increase during festivals like Diwali and Chhath.
